Code:    03-028
Date:    09/01/2003 - 09/30/2004

This project addressed the demand for more copies of the book "The Ties that Bind: Population and Development in the Philippines". This book was the output of a project that PCPD co-funded with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

This publication is noteworthy in being a comprehensive reference on population and development.  Compiled in one book are analyses of the interactions between population and development factors and outcomes.  It is comprised of studies that delve into the correlations between rapid population growth and rice self-sufficiency, population and the provision of health services, population and housing and the provision of decent shelter, population and basic education, population and government resources, and the interplay of population and urbanization.  This also includes a chapter "Gender in Population and Development: Gender Makes a Difference".
