Roadshow for the Population-Growth-Poverty Nexus Project

Code:    04-035
Date:    05/01/2004 - 06/30/2005

This project disseminated the findings of the PCPD-funded research "Population-Poverty Nexus in Rural Areas" in three strategic locations nationwide: Baguio City, Cebu City, and Davao City.

In this study, findings showed that had the Philippines been able to attain a slower population growth in the past 2 decades, its GDP per capita would have been higher by $868.00 (PPP) in 2000. In terms of poverty incidence, over 1 million families would not have been counted among the poor in 2000.

Participants to the symposia were representatives from various sectors: government, civil society, business, media, and the academe.
