Responding to Expressed Needs for Reproductive Health Information and Services of Poorest Women and Youth of Payatas B in Quezon City

Code:    14-137
Date:    01/01/2014 - 11/30/2015
Duration: 1 year, 10 months, 28 days

The Democratic Socialist Women of the Philippines (DSWP) conducted a baseline survey to determine the reproductive health (RH) situation of women of reproductive age (WRA) residents of Payatas B, the biggest part of Payatas, Quezon City's poorest Barangay. The survey surfaced the RH-related needs of the women as well as the weaknesses of the present RH initiatives.

From the survey, it should be noted that the respondents manifested receptiveness to family planning including use of contraceptives. 80% of those who have relationships practice family planning and a big percentage use contraceptives. The respondents also revealed a deep appreciation of the services rendered by the health centers and health service providers in the area.

However, both respondents and health service providers agree that still, much needs to be done to improve WRAs' RH situation.

It is in this context that the current project is being carried out.
