Private Practicing Midwives in Comprehensive Family Planning Service

Code:    Proj-27
Date:    10/01/1976 - 03/01/1978
Duration: 17 Months

This project involved private practising midvives in the active promotion of temporary but effective family planning methods, particularly the IUD, by training them in comprehensive family planning service delivery. The project was implemented with the cooperation of local midwifery associations. The midwives were trained by the institute of Maternal and Child Health (IMCH), one of four training institutions in the Philippines accredited by Popcom to provide comprehensive family planning training. The midwives were provided with essential instruments for IUD insertion, contraceptive commodities (such as pills), and adequate motivational and information materials on family planning ( like flipcharts and comic books). The project was piloted in Cavite.
