Multi-Service Youth Centers in the Cities of Manila, Baguio, and Cebu: Bridge Financing Phase

Code:    Proj-431
Date:    01/01/1987 - 12/01/1987
Duration: 12 Months

On its fourth year, this project continued to operate three (3) centers in the cities of Manila, Baguio, and Cebu. The Manila Center for Young Adults served adolescents for the past 3 1/2 years, while the Baguio and Cebu Centers were in operation for the last 2 1/4 years. The project provided adolescents and young adults aged 15-24 with information and counseling on the various aspects of life planning and fertility-related behavior and other concerns. In this phase, the Centers addressed the other major concerns of adolescents - Life Planning, and Health. In 1987, the Centers Life Planning activities dealt with concerns related to sexuality, parent-child communication, peer relationship, personality development, career planning and leadership. Its program on Adolescent Health, on the other hand, tackled issues on STD, drug abuse prevention, AIDS, family planning. While sexuality was the major program area during the Centers pilot phase of implementation, 1987 saw the development of a larger program framework -- Life Planning. This development was part of the Centers commitment to enhance its total person approach to handling adolescents problems and concerns.
