Code:    14-136
Date:    01/01/2014 - 06/30/2015
Duration: 1 year, 5 months, 27 days

Mulat Pinoy/KNN’s experience since 2009 has shown that social media is effective in reaching young people regarding matters that concern them. With the advent of smart phones and the increasing necessity of Internet access, social media has become a venue for young people to create their own content and to participate, proving its efficiency in disseminating information with great speed and even greater potential reach. The main strategies of the project aim to maximize social networks and the Internet as a means to involve the youth in population-related discourse. Young people are the largest growing demographic of social media content creators and users, and Mulat Pinoy/KNN’s own Facebook fans are composed mainly of Filipinos between the ages of 18 to 34 years old.

The main strategies will be threefold: Mulat Pinoy/KNN’s ongoing online and offline components, and a resource raising/sustainability component. Through its website ( and related online venues, it will continue to publish and maintain articles, reports and testimonials relevant to SRHR and popdev. Through its offline initiatives, Mulat Pinoy/KNN will conduct events aimed towards catalyzing the youth’s awareness of SRHR and providing training and opportunities to create materials on the issue. It will do so by actively collaborating with like-minded advocacies, businesses, NGOs and schools to achieve mutually beneficial goals. Active partnership with mainstream media organizations will also be sought. Its resource raising/sustainability strategy will ensure the strengthening of the project through evaluation activities, and the Probe Media Foundation will raise funds and support to be able to sustain it as a core program even after PCPD funding has ended.
