Development and Mobilization of Women Leaders and Other Sectoral Groups for Community Development

The project organized, developed and mobilized a community-based womens group which will manage community projects on health, water, environmental sanitation and livelihood. Specifically, the project aimed to: (1) Improve the primary health care system of the community; (2) Improve the communitys water services and management; (3) Formulate and operational financing scheme for livelihood and employment generating projects; and (4) Educate the community residents on health, water, environmental sanitation and livelihood. The project accomplished the following: (1) Assistance in the evacuation of affected families in the towns of Floridablanca and Porac during the actual eruption of Mt. Pinatubo on June 12-15 conducted by several Tanglaw officers and members. (2) Conduct of relief work for Pinatubo victims, specifically in managing evacuation centers including the provision of health services and distribution of relief goods. (3) Formulation of a Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan for Barangay San Rafael. (4) Evacuation of approximately 200 families from San Rafael.
