News - Mulat Pinoy to hold media forum on Aug 28 in QC

Mulat Pinoy will hold a forum  and workshop entitled Philippine Population in Focus: Myths and Challenges, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on August 28, 2010, at Annabel’s Restaurant, Tomas Morato, Quezon Ave.

The Mulat Pinoy project aims to harness the power of social media and the Internet to bring about a broader awareness of population and development (PopDev) issues.  \"We hope to encourage various sectors to adopt and address PopDev issues in their advocacies, while simultaneously empowering the general public by informing them about what can be done through the social media\" said Regina Rosero, coordinator of Mulat Pinoy.

Population and development training seminars, as well as open-to-the-public forums involving social/political experts and candidates, count among the many events organized by Mulat Pinoy. The project\'s primary center of operations is a website of the same name (www.mulatpinoy.ph). The project is supported by the Philippine Center for Population and Development (PCPD).

The forum and workshop is targeted for mainstream and online media and bloggers.  The organizers hope to provide a better understanding on the policies, reactions from various sectors and the human faces behind the issue of population and development.  The event will also invite media persons to apply for a fellowship that  will award grants to selected story proposals covering the issue of popdev.
